Stelios Charitopoulos provides business oriented antitrust advice to clients in a wide variety of industries including TMT, financial services, and pharmaceuticals. Having been part of the Antitrust, Competition and Economic Regulation (ACER) teams in London and Brussels, he has helped clients navigate both EU and UK competition rules and regulations.
Stelios advises on all aspects of EU and UK competition law. This includes advising clients on multi-jurisdictional merger control and foreign direct investment (FDI), antitrust and abuse of dominance investigations by competition authorities, damages litigation, and competition law compliance.
Representative experience
Advising AmerisourceBergen Corporation on the global merger control and FDI aspects of its USD 6.275bn acquisition of Walgreens Boots Alliance’s European wholesale distribution business.
Advising a software design and semiconductor company on the UK national security and public interest implications of an anticipated transaction, including on the CMA’s merger control investigation.
Defending a multinational bank against a standalone competition law damages action in the UK.
Acting for a party in connection with a regulatory appeal before the CMA.
Advising a global metals and engineering company on obtaining unconditional clearance in multiple jurisdictions, including the EU and China, for the creation of a JV.
Advising on the USD 1.1bn acquisition of a mobile app marketing and retargeting platform by an investment management company.
Advising an international investment company on the multi-billion USD sale of a stake in a luxury leisure business.
Advising a global sports and music entertainment company on obtaining unconditional Phase I clearance from the CMA for the creation of a JV.
