Zaw is an Associate in our Infrastructure, Energy, Resources, and Projects (IERP) practice, based in Riyadh. He is an English-qualified lawyer with experience advising on a broad range of infrastructure, construction, energy and decarbonisation projects across the GCC and beyond. 

With both private practice and in-house backgrounds having previously worked at an international law firm in their Abu Dhabi office, and a London-based global energy contractor, he brings a practical and commercial mindset to all his engagements. His experience includes advising on complex onshore/offshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, strategic healthcare infrastructure, waste treatment and waste management projects and major decarbonisation projects in Europe, Africa and the GCC. 

He has extensive experience and knowledge in drafting, negotiating and interpretation of various agreements including EPC,  EPCM (engineering, procurement and construction management), concession agreements, O&M (operation and maintenance), LLI (long lead item) supply agreements, collateral warranties/direct agreements, technology licensing agreements, utility supply agreements as well as industry standard forms such as FIDIC , LOGIC, NEC and IChemE contracts.

Advising a leading Abu Dhabi based oil and gas company on a US$ 10 billion multi-packaged EPC project for the development of upstream oil and gas facilities in an oilfield off the coast of Abu Dhabi*

Advising a leading Abu Dhabi based oil and gas company on a US$ 2.4 billion offshore EPC project to increase oil production in an the Lower Zakum offshore hydrocarbon concession*

Advising a waste management company in Oman on an EPC project for an integrated industrial waste treatment facility in Sohar Free Zone in Oman.*

Advising on the appointment of a lead design consultant for the development of a pioneering medical district project in the UAE.*

Advising a leading Abu Dhabi based oil and gas company on a US$ 1.6 billion EPC Project on the upgrades and development at the new Maximising Ethane Recovery and Monetization facility at Habshan 5.*

Advising an energy contractor on an EPCM contract with a Swedish energy start-up for an integrated and automated green steel production plant in Sweden.*

Advising a leading Abu Dhabi based oil and gas company on implementing drafting updates to their EPC contract templates and preparing template user guides for thieir legal and project teams.*

Advising an energy contractor on an EPCM contract with a German lithium development company on the construction of a lithium converter plant in Germany. *

Advising an energy contractor on an EPCM contract with public-private consortium on the construction of a crude oil pipeline in East Africa. *

Advising an energy contractor on its global framework agreement with TotalEnergies for provision of onshore and offshore pre-FEED, FEED and EPCM services for oil and gas and renewable projects. *

Advising a leading Abu Dhabi based oil and gas companyon a design and engineering agreement for a subsea transmission project in the UAE.*

Advising an energy contractor in relation to the construction of an e-methanol production facility in Sweden, which aims to facilitate the decarbonisation of the shipping industry.*
